Sedex验厂专业术语是SMETA审核，适用于所有行业。该标准已获得了许多大型零售商和生产商的青睐，许多零售商、超市、品牌商、供应商和其它组织都要求与之合作的农场、工厂和制造商参加SEDEX成员道德经营审核(SMETA)，以确保其经营符合相关道德标准的要求，审核结果可以得到所有SEDEX会员的认可并被他们共享，所以供应商接受该标准可以省去很多来自客户的重复审核。
